COROLLES® vs coaching, team building and DISC: the real differentiator
“How is this different from coaching? From team building? From DISC?” That is the question almost every executive, HR director and manager asks when they first hear about COROLLES®. Here is the answer, straight.
The COROLLES® differentiator in one sentence
COROLLES® measures the system, not the people — and puts a euro figure on what friction is costing your organisation.
No other approach on the market combines these two things:
- A systemic, non-normative reading4 dimensions (Direction, Collective, Clients, Framework) and 16 components. No personality type, no “good” or “bad” score imposed on you.
- A financial indicator: the IFCThe Internal Friction Cost, grounded in published research: Socio-Economic Theory (Cappelletti), CPP Global 2008, Harvard Business Review 2019, SHRM Foundation 2022.
Other tools tell you who your people are. COROLLES® tells you what the friction between them costs — and where to act first.
COROLLES® vs individual coaching
Individual coaching : Individual coaching moves a person forward — we do it ourselves, and it matters. It works with an individual taken out of their system: what the person understands alone then has to be re-synchronised with their team. That reconciliation costs energy, both to the coachee and to the collective, and it happens in no space designed for it.
COROLLES® : COROLLES® works on the team as a system, in one go: 50 systemic questions, perception gaps made visible to everyone at the same moment. No one has to translate their insight back on their own — the collective sees the same thing together and decides together. Framed format: 3 hours, 3 actions, 3 months.
The two are complementary, but they do not solve the same problem: individual coaching develops the person, COROLLES® synchronises the collective. Without that synchronisation, individual progress dissipates into the system — or collides with it.
COROLLES® vs team building
Team building : Team building creates a moment of cohesion, with little or no structural change. The effect fades within weeks, because nothing has changed in the system: governance, prioritisation, roles, trade-offs. And above all, it measures nothing.
COROLLES® : COROLLES® works on all 4 dimensions of the team — which is very often where things get stuck. COROLLES® measures first, acts, then measures again.
Results observed across more than 200 teams: +10 % performance after 12 months, −30 % in dysfunction costs, ROI within 3 months.
COROLLES® vs DISC, MBTI, 360° and other assessment tools
The tools you may already use — DISC, MBTI, Insights Discovery, Process Com, Predom, Belbin, Predictive Index, 360°, Five Behaviors, Human Synergistics, Gallup Q12 — fall into four families. None of them does what COROLLES® does.
| Tool family | What they do | What they miss |
|---|---|---|
| Individual profiles DISC, MBTI, Insights, Process Com, Predom, HBDI, Enneagram, PerformanSe, AssessFirst, Predictive Index, Hogan, CliftonStrengths |
Typologise people: “you are red”, “you are INTJ”. | Normative and individual-centred. A team of “compatible” profiles can be completely dysfunctional: the problem lies in the interactions, not in the personalities. |
| Team roles and individual feedback Belbin, Team Management Profile, 360°, Leadership Circle |
Assign a role, or measure how one person is perceived by those around them. | Still individual-centred, even when applied to a team. A 360° measures people; COROLLES® measures the dynamics between people. |
| Team diagnostics OpenDecide, Five Behaviors / Lencioni, Team Diagnostic Survey, Human Synergistics GSI, Barrett |
Assess the team against a model of the ideal team, or a benchmark of best practices. | Normative: they compare your team to a theoretical ideal, focused on internal functioning. COROLLES® is non-normative, also covers Clients and Framework, and prices the friction. |
| Engagement surveys Gallup Q12, Supermood, OfficeVibe, Peakon, Zest |
Measure an overall, often anonymous, sentiment. | An engagement score with no causal diagnosis and no action plan. COROLLES® tells you where the friction sits (which of the 16 components) and how much it costs. |
None of these tools produces a figure in euros. The IFC is what changes the conversation: reference studies put the cost of internal friction at between 20 % and 70 % of payroll in lost productivity.
What COROLLES® concretely brings to your team
Four effects, in order:
- Make it visibleWhat no one puts into words: perception gaps between members, managerial blind spots, governance friction.
- Put a number on itThe cost of that friction in euros, with a methodology grounded in international research.
- PrioritiseA single critical factor is enough to degrade overall performance. COROLLES® identifies where to act first.
- Move to actionA measurable cycle: Assessment → Results → Debrief → Action.
Two ways in, depending on where you stand
- COROLLES® ECHOThe external mirror. An estimate of your friction cost based on what your organisation shows publicly, before any commitment. The figure speaks for itself.
- COROLLES® TeamThe internal check. 50 questions put to your team (starting with the executive committee), a contextualised IFC, a 3-hour workshop, 3 actions over 3 months.
Frequently asked questions
How is COROLLES® different from a 360° ?
A 360° measures how an individual is perceived by those around them. COROLLES® measures the system: the dynamics between people, not the people themselves. It is non-normative — no personality type, no imposed standard.
We already ran a diagnostic with another firm. Why do it again?
COROLLES® does not prescribe. It makes visible what your organisation already shows, and measures the real gaps between what team members actually experience. It is a factual mirror, not a grid of generic recommendations.
Three hours — isn’t that too short for real team work?
That is the COROLLES® Team format: framed, factual, action-oriented. It is not a seminar, but it fits very well inside one (for example COROLLES® Team in the afternoon, workshops the next day) — 3 hours to land 3 concrete actions tracked over 3 months. Behaviour change is observed from 6 months onwards.
We don’t have the budget for a full engagement right now.
Start with COROLLES® ECHO: it estimates the cost of your internal friction before any commitment. Once you see what inaction costs, the budget question looks rather different.
What research is the IFC based on?
Published studies: Socio-Economic Theory (hidden costs of €20k to €70k per employee per year, Cappelletti 2018), plus INSEE/DARES data for French salary baselines.
